Role Overview
As a Geomatics Instrument Operator, your role involves working directly in the field to gather and process precise geospatial data. With a mix of advanced technology and hands-on problem-solving, you’ll assist the Crew Chief in delivering accurate land survey results. This includes setting up equipment, interpreting technical plans, and collaborating with the team to ensure efficient operations.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Operate land survey instruments such as tripods, total stations, GNSS receivers, and data radios/modems.
- Support field survey activities, including data collection and computation under the Crew Chief’s supervision.
- Ensure land survey equipment is checked, calibrated, and maintained for accurate operation.
- Perform basic adjustments on instruments in the field as needed.
- Review and interpret technical documents, including maps, plans, and blueprints.
- Document field notes and maintain organized records to ensure smooth data handling.
- Load and unload equipment, maintain tools, and follow all company safety protocols.
Working Conditions:
You’ll primarily work outdoors, often in variable weather conditions or on challenging terrain. Travel to remote locations may be required, with occasional extended stays depending on project needs.
Skills & Qualifications
Must-Haves:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar field (entry-level candidates with strong technical aptitude are also welcome).
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with geomatics equipment and land survey principles.
- Ability to perform survey computations and interpret maps.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
